| Mission: |
The AT Center is a collaborative project between BIN, Verizon and Lehman College. The center will be open to persons with disabilities in the Bronx, including BIN member organizations and the Lehman community. Part of BIN’s mandate is to provide access to our technologies for persons with disabilities in the Bronx. The center features new computers with Internet access and various software for persons with disabilities, including Jaws, Zoom Text, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Inspiration, and Kurzweil 1000/3000. Among the specialized hardware include various telephone equipment for the disabled, a braille printer, two HP scanners, a CCTV with computer interface, and other technologies as they become needed. These various technologies will be showcased to the designated communities, with instruction and guidance provided in their usage.
Our future plans include installing videoconferencing in this facility so that we can receive program content from community organizations and non-profits specializing in this area. In this manner, we can better tap the local and distant resources in this fast developing field to the benefit of all participants.
|
| Hours of Operation: |
For the initial Fall opening, the center will be open to the public on Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Times other than these will be scheduled by appointment. In the future, we hope to expand the center staff in order increase the hours and activities.
